Certification Standards
Therapy Council provides assessed professional education supported by published programme requirements, defined assessment standards and publicly verifiable credentials. This page sets out the standard every Therapy Council certification follows.
From programme development to a registered credential
Six stages, applied in the same order to every certification.
Programme development
Each programme is developed against defined learning outcomes for a stated audience and setting. The programme page names who developed and assesses the programme for Therapy Council, with their qualifications.
Published curriculum
Every module and learning item is published on the programme page before enrolment, in the order it is studied, with estimated study hours, case studies, applied activities and any final project.
Programme requirements
The programme page states who the programme is for, what it prepares a learner to do, and the limits of the credential. Study is self-paced and online, and enrolment includes the full curriculum and the programme assessment.
Assessment requirements
Each programme is assessed by a final examination. Its pass mark, number of questions, attempt limit and any waiting period between attempts are published before enrolment. Each attempt draws a fresh set of questions. Attendance, video completion and payment do not substitute for a pass.
Certification
A credential is issued only when the learner meets the published pass standard. It names the learner, the certification and the date of issue, and carries a unique credential number.
Credential registration
Every credential issued is entered on the Therapy Council Credential Register, where anyone can confirm it by credential number, free and without an account. Register records remain permanently verifiable unless a credential is revoked or corrected under the credential terms.
What the Credential Register confirms
The register is the public record of every credential Therapy Council issues. A lookup by credential number returns the record below. The Therapy Council Credential Register verifies credentials issued by Therapy Council. It is not an NCAHP, RCI, or government professional register.

- Whether the record is verified on the register.
What a credential does not represent
Stated on every programme page and in the credential terms.
Not a licence to practise
Therapy Council is not a licensing or statutory regulatory body. Its credentials do not authorise regulated clinical practice in any jurisdiction.
Not a degree
Credentials record professional education completed and an assessment passed. They are not academic qualifications.
Not a protected title
A credential does not permit the use of a title protected by law, such as clinical psychologist.
